Bad Branch "Winners" Explore Transformation Opportunities

Bad Branch

We know what you’re thinking: “Bad Branch Winners” is an oxymoron. Ok, maybe we don’t know what you’re thinking, but we do know that when you hear why these financial institutions wanted to visit DBSI, you’ll want to make the trip too.

Look, thousands of financial institutions have bad branches and just don’t know how to improve them anymore—if that sounds like you don’t worry, you’re not alone! This is why DBSI exists. It’s our passion to transform financial institutions and redefine banking.

So, DBSI hosted a “bad branch” contest where hundreds of financial institutions entered to win an all-expenses paid trip to our innovative Ideation Center and the opportunity to explore their own branch transformation strategy.

Just listen to some of the reasons these branches entered our contest:

What they said they needed…

“Our branches do not project our vision of ‘Enriching life through financial leadership.’ We want to reimagine our branches as a place where members want to visit, learn, and find financial solutions—not a place they ‘have to go to get cash.’”

How they view their branch…

“In 2003, the look of our branch was ‘da bomb.’ Now, 12 years later the shine is off the penny. We need some experts to help restore our shine!”

Why they think people aren’t visiting…

“Even though our member demographic is 48% Gen Y, we still have old, dilapidated branches that look more like ancient fortresses rather than an inviting retail environment that members would enjoy visiting.”

What they’re looking for…

“Our large floor plan and Georgian architecture style is part of our brand, but it can be intimidating to younger clients. We want to marry our past with a more contemporary style with a smaller footprint that will attract future generations.”

How they feel…

“A big, wide-open lobby with a ceiling as expansive as the heavens seemed like a great idea… back in 1987. We have seven teller windows that are wrong in every way. This is our one and only impassioned cry: HELP US DBSI!”

Do any of these scenarios sound like you and your financial institution? Are these struggles you’re experiencing? Well, the reaction from these branches after visiting the Ideation Center was astounding. These financial institutions said, “Here’s my bad branch, let’s see what you got,” and DBSI’s Ideation Center delivered.

What will your reaction be?

Congratulations to our 2015 Bad Branch Winners. Your future is incredible bright!
