30+ Internal Corporate Communications & Digital Signage Stats to Know

30+ Internal Corporate Communications & Digital Signage Stats to Know

There is a lot of data on how internal company messaging can impact your bottom line. To help sum it up, here are some statistics surrounding the costs of bad internal communications, the benefits of good communications, and digital signage usage.

The need for internal corporate communication:

  • 97% of both business leaders and employees believe that corporate communications impact daily activities. [1]
  • 44% of employees want wider adoption of internal communication tools. [2]
  • 90% of employees want to work at a company where issues are discussed efficiently and inclusively. [3]

The cost of bad communication:

  • 86% of employees and executives cite a lack of collaboration or ineffective communication for workplace failures. [4]
  • 57% of employees report not being given clear directions.[5] Businesses are as small as 100 employees spend on average 17 hours a week clarifying unclear communication, which translates to an annual cost of up to $525,000! [6] In large enterprises of 100,000 employees, that increases to up to $62M! [7]
  • 28% of employees cite poor communication as the reason for not being able to deliver work in an allotted time frame. [8]

The benefits of good communication:

  • Companies that communicate effectively are 4x more likely to report high levels of employee engagement. [9] Engaged employees report 31% higher productivity and 37% higher sales. [10] Also, to note, organizations, where employees are connected, see a 20-25% increase in employee productivity. [11]
  • 68% of workers said job satisfaction was directly impacted by the frequency of communications [12]
  • Companies with effective communications programs are 3.5x more likely to outperform their competitors. [13]

A case for the many digital signage products:

  • Employees are 75% more likely to watch a video than reading text. Digital Signage gives you an opportunity to play tons of videos. [14] And digital displays capture 400% more views than static displays, as well as potentially double audience information retention. [15]
  • 74% of employees say they’d work harder if they were better appreciated and recognized. Employee recognition is especially successful on digital screens, where staff can be highlighted in meaningful ways—not just a picture on the wall with a Sharpied ‘employee of the month’ written on it. [16]
