4 Examples of Brilliant Digital Signage

4 Examples of Brilliant Digital Signage

A major trend in the financial industry has been a move towards digital signage. For a lot of us, when we think about digital signage in a branch environment, our minds immediately think of a bunch of randomly placed monitors displaying an electronic version of a bank poster or rate board.

While that’s a logical first step, it isn’t enough to actually solve the problem of creating a great retail experience that attracts, delights, engages, and ultimately keeps clients coming back.

Digital signage can be so much more, from something as complex as 3-D imagery, to interactive kiosks that clients can use from outside a window after hours.

As digital signage becomes embraced from companies of all sizes, across all industries, here are some brilliant digital signage examples outside of the banking industry that push the envelope on what digital signage can be.

Let’s look at a few of these inspiring designs:

  1. British AirwaysBA
    1. British Airways got the point with some great digital signage in late 2013. Currently set up in two locations, they have digital signs that feature a virtual kid who points to the sky anytime a British Airways flight passes by.
    2. Made possible with custom-built surveillance technology to detect planes flying overhead, the billboards even display the exact plane’s flight number, point of origin, and weather forecast.
    3. Watch this video to see the sign in action.
  1. Kate Spade
    1. KateSpadeIn a partnership with eBay, Kate Spade has taken window shopping to a whole new level with an “always on” concept.
    2. Featuring shoppable windows, customers can use massive touchscreens to order or browse items from the store. No longer is being open a barrier to sales. Clients can learn about products on the spot.
    3. Imagine the possibilities of having an “always on” window in your financial institution. Clients could learn about your services on the spot with a touch or gesture.
  1. Saks
    1. Saks-Fifth-Avenue-2012-Holiday-Video-Projection-Display-Unknown-2012This past holiday season, Saks in New York City unveiled the most entertaining shopping experience ever witnessed. Through the use of 3-D digital signage and their building as a backdrop, Saks created a nightly show that tied into their brand and had everyone gathering around their retail space. Even better? They offered an interactive digital signage display window, created in collaboration with MasterCard, that gave shoppers a chance to be an active participant. By visiting a website, shoppers could create their own customized snowflake and name to be displayed on the digital sign.

  1. Marriott Go Board
    1. GoBoardWhile it’s been around for a few years, its continued success makes the Marriott Go Board worthy of mention. Featuring an interactive touch screen with several “apps,” customers of Marriott can get access to weather, airline info, stock market information, news headlines, local attractions and events, information about the Marriott, and more.
    2. This has become Marriott’s signature item that engages and wow’s customers. People are always drawn to a touchscreen that provides them with items to explore.

There really is so much any company or financial institution can add to their retail experience by just adding some interesting and innovative digital signage elements. Hopefully this gets some wheels turning on ideas for your branch too.
